A humble man who lives in the foothills outside of Redding, in Northern California, Bill Brashears has had a lifelong love affair with the printing press and the internet. Majoring in journalism at Chico State University, he’s been the webmaster and editor of the company newsletter at every place he’s ever worked since.
For 25 years he managed public transit systems and social service transportation programs for the disabled. He developed and negotiated contracts, managed human resources and supervised employees, prepared budgets and reports, wrote grants and proposals, and designed marketing and communication platforms including rider guides and client databases.
In 2006, he became the Director of Marketing and Communications for NonProfits United, a nonprofit insurance pool for nonprofit transportation providers which he help to establish in the mid-80’s.
While at NPU, he developed a marketing strategy; re-created their website; built an email communication structure; converted their forms to online “fillable” documents; redesigned their business cards and letterhead; created brochures, flyers, display ads, annual reports, and exhibit booths; represented them at trade shows and conferences; and wrote the copy for all communications with members.
The current economic conditions have forced a curtailment of some his duties, so now he is striking out on his own as an independent contractor. By combining his business acumen and professional experience with his creative abilities and marketing skills, he is in an unique position to provide valuable services to small businesses and nonprofit organizations that need help in projecting a consistent, professional image and communicating with their customers, clients, members, and supporters.
